PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical wave guide member and an optical module capable of miniaturizing an optical transmission device and to provide the optical transmission device. SOLUTION: The optical module 14 to be connected with an optical fiber 12 is constituted by storing a substrate 22 provided with the optical wave guide member 16, a light emitting element 18, and a light receiving element 20 on it in a box body 24. One end side of the optical wave guide member 16 is optically connected with the optical fiber 12 through a connector 26, and the other end side of the optical wave guide member 16 is formed like steps and has two step parts 16A, 16B. A reflection face 28A for reflecting the light emitted by the light emitting element 18 and the light from the optical fiber 12 in the direction A of optical axis of the optical fiber 12 is formed in the step part 16A. A reflection face 28B for reflecting the light entering from the optical fiber 12 in the direction B crossing the direction A of optical axis orthogonally, namely, onto a light receiving element 20 side is formed in the step part 16B.
