PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely fix a breakable article by varying viscosity of fluid with low energy and also freely varying a shape of inclusion in which the fluid is enclosed. SOLUTION: An object supporting device 13 includes an action unit 33, which is composed of a membrane with high flexibility and high degree of freedom of shape, and which includes a saccular unit enclosed with the viscous fluid whose viscosity is varied, while abutting against the breakable article 12. The device detects the viscosity V of the viscous fluid, sets the viscosity of the viscous fluid as an object viscosity V<SB>0</SB>, calculates the difference V<SB>0</SB>-V between the viscosity V of the detected viscous fluid and the object viscosity V<SB>0</SB>, and controls the viscosity of the viscous fluid depending on the difference V<SB>0</SB>-V.
