PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving a plasma display device capable of reducing background luminance. SOLUTION: In the plasma display device provided with a plasma display panel including a substrate having a plurality of display electrode pairs aligned thereon and a substrate disposed oppositely thereto, which are sealed together through a discharge space, and a priming particle discharge layer disposed to be exposed to the discharge space between the substrates, an all-cell reset for performing reset discharge in all cells is performed once for each of a plurality of fields to reduce the frequency of the all-cell reset per unit time, thereby reducing the background luminance.
