<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "an information search method and device" which can quickly, easily, and correctly search for and present the desired information even from an extremely large amount of information when searching for the desired information for presentation. <P>SOLUTION: Information names to be searched are arranged in a predetermined order, and a rate indicator bar divided at an optional value is formed on a screen in a manner capable of showing some of the information names. The details of the information names are formed adjacent to the rate indicator bar in a scrollable manner. The user slides the finger on any range of the rate indicator bar to specify a range of information names to be searched. About the information names within the specified range of the arranged information names, the information names corresponding to the divided position of the rate indicator bar are searched, and predetermined parts from the initials of the information names obtained by the search are displayed at the corresponding divided positions of the rate indicator bar respectively.
