The device has a liquid container (1) provided with a fluid drainage and a fluid outlet (2). A pump unit (6) drains fluid (7) i.e. milk, from the liquid container, and a control valve (8) is provided between a bearing (20) and the fluid outlet. A fluid head holder with a supply line (10) is connected to the liquid container, where the liquid container serves as a buffer. A fluid displacement unit moves fluid from the liquid container to other liquid container (9), and the supply line is connected to the liquid container (1) and a liquid holder. An independent claim is also included for a method for calibrating a pump unit in a liquid supply device.
