PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can improve display characteristics by reducing texturing in applying a photo-alignment method to a structure where each pixel is divided into two sub-pixels. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate and a second substrate opposed to each other; a pixel electrode formed on the first substrate, which includes a first sub-pixel electrode and a second sub-pixel electrode spaced apart from each other by a gap; a common electrode formed on the second substrate; a shield member formed on the first substrate or second substrate to overlap the gap between the first sub-pixel electrode and the second sub-pixel electrode; an alignment layer formed on at least either of the pixel electrode and common electrode; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate.
