PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device capable of being reduced in size by effectively utilizing a space in a case body. SOLUTION: In a tubular case body 12, groove parts 41 and 43 and groove parts 42 and 44 forming pairs by facing each other are formed along the axial direction. Boards 13 and 14 are housed in the case body 12, with both side parts being held to the groove parts 41 and 43 and the groove parts 42 and 44. The plurality of boards 13 and 14 can be housed in the case body 12 by the groove parts 41 and 43 and the groove parts 42 and 44, and size reduction can be attained by effectively utilizing the space in the case body 12.
