PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heavy duty tire that is superior in air-retaining property and durability of bead portion and whose weight can be reduced. SOLUTION: In a heavy duty tire whose inside surface is covered with an air intercepting layer 6, the air intercepting layer 6 includes at least a layer of a resin composition (A) whose thickness is 1 mm or less, whose end portion is located in a predetermined range from the toe end P of the bead portion, and whose oxygen permeation amount at 20°C and 65% RH is 3.0×10<SP>-12</SP>cm<SP>3</SP>*cm/cm<SP>2</SP>*sec*cmHg or less. The resin composition (A) is formed by distributing a flexible resin (D), Young's modulus of which at 23°C is smaller than denaturation ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C), in a matrix comprising the denaturation ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C) obtained by making ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (B) react.
