Disclosed is a method for producing a hydrogenolysis product of a polyhydric alcohol by means of a catalyst. This method is capable of improving conversion rate, while improving selectivity of a hydrogenolysis product to be obtained, especially selectivity of propanediol from glycerin. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a hydrogenolysis product of a polyhydric alcohol, wherein a polyhydric alcohol solution having a water content of less than 10% by mass is hydrogenolyzed by a fixed bed continuous liquid phase reaction in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.
