<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a timekeeping device that receives satellite signals, in a short time, reduces power consumption, reduces the influence of a reception environment, and improves the success probability. <P>SOLUTION: A timekeeping device with a GPS (global positioning system) has a reception unit that captures the positioning information satellite and receives satellite signals; a time information generating unit that generates time information based on the received satellite signals; a time display unit for displaying time information; and a reception control unit 50 for controlling the reception unit. The reception control unit 50 includes a determining unit 51 for determining the reception environment, before performing receiving processing, and a search mode selecting unit 52 for selecting, based on the determining result of the determining unit 51, one satellite search mode of capturing one positioning information satellite and acquiring the time information, based on a satellite signal transmitted from the positioning information satellite and a plurality of satellite search modes of capturing a plurality of positioning information satellites and acquiring the time information, based on a satellite signal transmitted from one positioning information satellite. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
