PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect abnormal discharge with superior precision in a lamp lighting device in which a current flowing through a lamp is uniformalized by using a balancer transformer. SOLUTION: This lamp lighting device has a main transformer, a control circuit connected to the primary winding side of the main transformer, a balancer connected to a secondary winding of the main transformer and to uniformalize currents flowing through a plurality of the lamps, and an abnormal discharge detecting circuit in which a high-frequency signal formed by abnormal discharge generated in either one of terminals of the plurality of the lamps is detected and operation stop is directed to the control circuit. Then, the balancer has a plurality of transformers, primary windings of the respective transformers are connected to one lamp in charge and the secondary winding of the main transformer in series, and secondary windings of the transformers are connected so as to constitute a closed loop with the secondary windings of other transformers. Moreover, as for the abnormal discharge detecting circuit, the high-frequency signal is detected by using signals occurring in tertiary windings of the transformers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
