PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and inexpensive apparatus for detecting amplified nucleic acid, and a simple method for detecting an amplified nucleic acid by using the apparatus. SOLUTION: The temperature of a light-transmitting substrate 2 having a plane specimen-holding part 210 on the surface 21 is controlled, a fluorescence labeled nucleic acid which is an amplification product labeled with one or more fluorescent substances is amplified on the specimen-holding part 210, the fluorescent substance in the obtained fluorescent amplified nucleic acid is excited from the back face 22 of the substrate 2, and the fluorescent light 201 generated by the excitation of the fluorescent substance is detected.
