A process is described for the production of man-made vitreous fibers, comprising providing of a mineral charge which includes briquettes, melting the charge to provide a melt and fiberising the melt, wherein the briquettes contain at least 5 %, in relation to weight of a briquette, of particulate alumina-containing material containing from 0.5 to 10 wt. % of metallic aluminum, 50 to 90 wt. % of alumina Al2O3 and up to 49.5 wt. % of other materials. The briquette used for the production of man-made vitreous fibers is also described. |
