<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil additive excellent in metal adsorptiveness, shear stability and viscosity index enhancing ability. <P>SOLUTION: This lubricating oil additive contains a copolymer (A) having, as essential constitutional units, a constitutional unit (a) containing a functional group X in which an absolute value of a difference between energy of a HOMO of a compound C<SB>12</SB>H<SB>25</SB>-X calculated an extended Huckel method, after structure-optimized by an MM2 method using a quantum mechanical calculation software CAChe, and energy of a LUMO of Fe(OH)<SB>3</SB>is 1.08 eV or less, and a constitutional unit (b) comprising an alkyl (metha-)acrylate having a 1-36C alkyl group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
