An electronic device and a method of controlling same are provided to display a graphic user interface including multiple user selectable features. A GUI(Graphical User Interface) including user selectable features(80) is provided. When an appropriate object of other conductive object in a bare hand or a user finger is detected, a signal is transmitted from a touch response overlay to a controller(82). In case any selection is received, the user selectable feature which is most close to object on GUI is determined based on X and Y value which is based on signal from the touch response overlay(84,86). The GUI is changed based on the target features determined by the location of the object about the touch sense overlay(88).
