PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial direction retaining system for constraining axial movement in a complementary dovetail slot 12 of a second mechanical component 10 of a first mechanical component 16 including a dovetail 14. SOLUTION: This system includes a first curved line group 30 formed in a bottom surface of the dovetail slot, and a second curved line group 32 formed in a bottom surface of the dovetail. The first and the second groups are lined up when the dovetail is positioned in the dovetail slot and form an outer circumference blocked opening part. A curved line fixing clip 28 is received in the outer circumference blocked opening. An arbitrary selected cover plate 40 can be disposed on an end part of the fixing clip under a condition where the end part of the fixing clip is deformed, for example by swaging.
