PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that although an AV product capable of receiving a broadcast wave as one of software update methods is able to normally perform the software update of its own equipment by download from a broadcast wave, equipment which is not located in an environment where a broadcast wave is receivable is not able to update software, and the labor of a user or a maintenance staff is increased in association with his or her manual execution. SOLUTION: Software download is performed by proxy between equipment connected through a home network so that it is possible even for equipment which is not able to receive any broadcast wave or located in an environment where the equipment is not connected to an external network or where self-equipment is not able to download software during its use of a resource to perform the acquisition/update of firmware. Also, software download is performed by proxy as necessary by a digital broadcast receiver so that it is not necessary to provide any special storage region by using a required storage region only as a temporal region preliminarily prepared for the download of the self-equipment.
