摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zirconia fine particle which has the particle size smaller than that of the conventional zirconia fine particle and can be dispersed highly and easily even when fired and agglomerated, and has high index of refraction. SOLUTION: The method for producing zirconia sol in which the zirconia fine particles having 5-30 nm average particle size are dispersed comprises: a step (a) of adding an alkali component to an aqueous solution of a zirconium compound to prepare a dispersion liquid of zirconium hydroxide gel; a step (b) of cleaning the zirconium hydroxide gel; a step (c) of adding an alkali metal hydroxide aqueous solution and a hydrogen peroxide aqueous solution to the dispersion liquid of the cleaned zirconium hydroxide gel to dissolve the zirconium hydroxide gel; and a step (d) of hydrothermally treating a solution, in which the zirconium hydroxide gel is dissolved, at 40-300°C.
