A signal change prediction type traffic light apparatus and a method thereof are provided to prevent a traffic accident by supplying sign change information of a driver in advance. A plurality of sign lamps of an auxiliary signal unit(302) has the same green all when a sign signal is green or a green signal is changed into a left turn signal at a main signal unit. The plural sign lamps are turned on from a green to a yellow gradually before the sign lamp of the main signal unit is changed to prevent the vehicle approaching the intersection. When the sing lamp of the main signal unit is changed to yellow, the all lamps of the auxiliary signal unit is chanted to yellow.
