A device and a method for performing billing in a wireless communication system are provided to reduce signaling load by stacking and periodically reporting a keeping time of each state. A billing session is generated when a terminal is connected. It is checked whether a MAC(Media Access Control) state of the terminal is shifted while billing information for the terminal is collected. When the MAC state of the terminal is shifted, status information of the billing session is updated(227). Billing information including the state information of the billing session is transmitted to a billing server(229).
