The device has a surface pressure sensor (1) for modifying resistance at each impulse given by a foot of a swimmer against a wall of a swimming pool and for sending a impulse permitting incrementing of an electronic counter (3) placed in a location different from that of the foot. A front assembly is used in an aquatic medium so as to be sealed and maintained at the foot by a sock. The electronic counter includes a display for displaying length number, and wireless transmission and reception units are placed between the sensor and the counter.
