[PROBLEMS] To provide a lane recognition system wherein recognition precision of a traffic lane is improved by suppressing noise which tends to occur respectively in an original image and a bird's-eye image. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The lane recognition system for recognizing the traffic lane on the basis of an image has a synthesized bird's-eye image creation means, which creates a synthesized bird's-eye image by connecting a plurality of bird's-eye images turned respectively as the bird's-eye images from the partial areas of original images photographed at different times; a lane line candidate extraction means which detects a lane line candidate using information on the original images or the bird's-eye images generated from the original images and the synthesized bird's-eye image; and a lane line position estimation means which estimates the position of the lane line on the basis of information on the lane line candidate.
