PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image management system in which new information desired by a user can be added to an image file at the side of an image processing device in accordance with an arbitrary simplified icon added to the image file by the user at the side of an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: In a digital camera 105, during or after photographing, the simplified icon set by a user is added to the image file. Then, in a PC 100, a correspondence list is created in which a meaning is attached to the simplified icon added to the image file, and new information to which the meaning is attached by the correspondence list is overwritten or newly added to symbol information being added to the image file fetched from the digital camera 105.
