The assembly has a wind converter (18) with a turbine and generator, and a vertical support comprising a fixed stand (10) with a base (12) fixed to the ground for supporting the assembly. A central pillar (14) is mounted on the base. An orientable mast (16) covering the pillar and comprises a constant section on a large part of the height of the mast. The height of the pillar is equal to tenth of the height of the mast. An orientation and support device has a thrust bearing (32) supporting a large part of weight of the mast on the stand. An independent claim is also included for a method for constructing a structure by successive sections for constructing a support of a wind converter assembly.
