PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus and an identification control method capable of easily performing registration for use against a connection server, when verification of identification information of a connected communication unit matches. SOLUTION: When an instruction for starting a computer 10 is received, verification of ID of 3G module 200 and ID stored in an ID storage region 109a of BIOS-ROM 109 is performed, a processing for limiting the use of the computer 10 is performed when the ID does not match, and when the instruction is from a server unit, a processing for limiting the computer 10 is performed when the use of the 3G module 200 is unmatched as a result of the verification of the ID of the 3G module 200 and ID of the 3G module 200 stored in the server unit 202, and further the use of 3G module 200 is registered in the server unit 202 when determined to be matching.
