PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display apparatus, which allows simultaneous observation of video and the external world, and can be improved in joint strength with a reduced size and reduced weight. SOLUTION: The video display apparatus comprises a display means for displaying video; an eyepiece optical system 13 for guiding video light to an optical pupil; and a casing covering the display means. The eyepiece optical system 13 includes a first transparent substrate 20 having a reflecting surface 24 reflecting the video light and a second transparent substrate 22 bonded to the first transparent substrate 20, the joint surface except the reflecting surface 24 of the first transparent substrate 20 is formed in a curved surface.
