<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face detector, a face detection method, and a face detecting program, accurately and efficiently detect the face from an image, even when the face is shaded or the background changes from moment to moment. <P>SOLUTION: A face image input part 11 of the face detector 10 inputs an image, including the face. An image slicing part 12 slices an image as a face detection object, from the input image. A shadow presence/absence determining part 13 determines whether the image is shaded in each sliced image. The shadow-removing part 14 removes the shadow from the sliced image which is determined as being shaded.
