PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacturing a high grade molded product by surely preventing the damage or the deterioration of performance caused by the abnormality of a mold in which a thermoplastic material is mounted. SOLUTION: In the molding apparatus 10 for obtaining a required molded product by charging a mold unit 40 in which the thermoplastic material is mounted in a molding space 8 including a plurality of heating stages 20a, pressurizing stages 20b and cooling stages 20c to pass through each step of heating, pressurizing and cooling, a height measuring mechanism 3 for measuring the height of the mold unit 40 before charging is provided in a molding preparative chamber 1 through which the mold unit 40 charged into the molding space 8 is passed and a controller 4 acts to stop the charge and to remove the mold unit 40 to a discharge space 6 before charging when the measured height value H of the mold unit 40 is out of the given normal value and thereby, the occurrence of the damage or the performance deterioration of the mold unit 40 or the molding apparatus 10 caused by charging the abnormal mold unit 40 to the molding space 8 is prevented to obtain the high grade molded product.
