PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method and a processing device capable of taking limited space with a simple structure and automatically determining a processing position of a workpiece and processing the workpiece at a precise position while restraining damage on the workpiece. SOLUTION: The processing device comprises a processing unit 18 for processing the workpiece while moving along the fixed workpiece 12, and a length measuring unit 23 capable of moving for detecting length of the workpiece 12. Increase of drive current of a drive motor 29 of the length measuring unit 23 is detected by making a movable stopper 37 as a contact section of the length measuring unit 23 bring into contact with the workpiece 12, and a moving distance from a measuring origin point 46 of the length measuring unit 23 is detected. A control unit of an operation board 30 calculates a length of the workpiece 12 on the basis of the moving distance of the length measuring unit 23, and a distance from an end of the workpiece 12 to the processing position is calculated on the basis of the length of the calculated workpiece 12.
