PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a star wheel device and a container checking device equipped with it capable of providing a high degree of layout freedom around the container. SOLUTION: This star wheel device 1 includes a star wheel 2 where a plurality of pockets are formed and arranged in the circumference direction and is rotated and driven with an axial line AX1 as a center, a plurality of rollers 3 that are provided on both sides of each pocket to be brought into contact with the container B surrounded by the each pocket and can rotate with an axial line AX2 as a center, and a roller driving mechanism 4 that rotates and drives the plurality of rollers 3. The roller driving mechanism 4 has a rotation driving source, intermediate shafts 42 that are located in the center of the radius of the star wheel 2 more than the axial line AX2 and of which the number is the same as the number of the plurality of rollers 3, a roller driving belt 41 that transmits rotation between the intermediate shafts 42 and the rollers 3, and a driving belt 45 that is located at more lower part than the roller driving belt 41 to transmit rotation from the rotation driving source to the intermediate shafts 42.
