PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of starting a device which requires lubricating oil, while reliably achieving lubrication with the lubricating oil. SOLUTION: The method of starting a rotating device 30 operating on supplied lubricating oil includes the steps of: measuring an atmospheric temperature; determining the time from starting an oil pump 31 supplying lubricating oil to the rotating device 30 to starting the rotating device 30; and starting the rotating device 30 when a pressure of the lubricating oil supplied to the rotating device 30 is a predetermined one at the lapse time of the determined time after starting the oil pump 31 and performing no starting of the rotating device 30 when a pressure of lubricating oil is less than a predetermined one.
