A remote inputting device and a control method for simplifying a communication protocol of a display device and a remote input device are provided to reduce load within a display device due to transmitting various external input format as a digital multimedia stream. A controller checks whether the signal inputted through the outside input unit exists(S100). The controller determines whether the sensed external input signal exists(S110). The controller determines whether the sensed external input signal is single or multiple(S120). An image processor converts the input signal into the digital multimedia stream canning be transmitted(S140).
