A signal receiving apparatus and a method in a communication system are provided to improve decoding performance by minimizing detecting error when decoding a received signal in a multi input multi output communication system. A confirmation device confirms a channel matrix(H) and received signal(r) of channel(S305). A determining unit confirms whether the MCS level of the transmission signals is identical or not(S310). A log likelihood ratio calculator produces an LLR(Log Likelihood Ratio) by the first calculation method(S320). A log likelihood ratio operation unit produces LLR by the second calculation method about transmission signals(S340).
