PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage system capable of remotely backing up data and reducing a transfer load and a capacity load to a remote site. SOLUTION: The storage system 3 includes a main site 1 and a remote site 2, which are connected through a communication line. The main site 1 includes a data acquiring unit for acquiring updated data as differential data each time data within a designatable range in operation data stored in a disk 16 is updated from a predetermined point of time, and a data transmitting unit 5 for transmitting the acquired difference data. The remote site 2 includes a data receiving unit 7 for receiving the transmitted differential data, and a data storage unit 8 for switching a generation about the received differential data on the basis of either a predetermined period or a predetermined data amount and storing the received differential data in the disk 26.
