PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate whose heat shrinkage percentage is suitably specified for achieving the commonalization of a mask used when an element or the like is formed on the glass substrate or for improving the correctness of the positional relation of confronted elements or the like when two glass substrates are assembled to a panel, and the assembling properties thereof. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a glass substrate G used for a flat display panel, and whose linear expansion coefficient in the temperature range of 30 to 380°C is 60 to 130×10<SP>-7</SP>/°C. The glass substrate has a rectangular shape in which short side dimension is 600 to 3,000 mm and the long side dimension is 700 to 5,000 mm, and has a sheet thickness of 1.1 to 4.0 mm. When the respective glass substrates in one lot are subjected to heat treatment from room temperature, so as to be held at 600°C for 1 hr, and is again returned to room temperature, the absolute value of the heat shrinkage percentages of the respective glass substrates is 350 to 500 ppm, and molding is performed in such a manner that the variation of the heat shrinkage percentages between the respective glass substrates and the variation of the heat shrinkage percentages in the respective glass substrates is±8%.
