PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high-purity synthetic silica powder with good productivity at a low cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing the synthetic silica powder by wet hydrolysis of silicon tetrachloride includes: generating highly-concentrated silica slurry by adding silicon tetrachloride to water under vigorous stirring; and drying and firing the silica slurry to produce silica powder, wherein silicon tetrachloride is preferably added in an amount of 8-10 mol to one mol water under vigorous stirring with a stirring Reynolds number of≥25,000 to generate silica slurry having silica concentration of≥500 g/L, and in this case, silicon tetrachloride is preferably added little by little to water in a vessel while controlling the liquid temperature to≤50°C by cooling the vessel.
