Embodiments of the present invention provide a method for managing A interface circuit. The method includes the following steps. The A interface circuit management function is moved downward from an MSC Server to an MGW. After receiving a circuit resource assignment request for assigning an A interface circuit to a UE, the MGW assigns an A interface circuit to the UE from A interface circuit resources configured at a local office according to circuit selection reference information carried in the request. Embodiments of the present invention further provide a system for managing A interface circuit. Technical solutions provided in embodiments of the present invention may reduce complexity in A interface circuit management, In a particular networking architecture, the technical solutions provided by embodiments of the present invention may allow to share A interface circuit resources, increase multiplexing of A interface circuits and reduce complexity in operation and maintenance for A interface circuits.
