A way is provided for a supply chain participant, for example, to learn where to apply for relevant security credentials, for example correct SAML assertions, in relation to a radio frequency identification (RFID) device such as an RFID tag (18). An RFID tag (18) is adapted to provide what may be termed an "invitation tag". The invitation tag (18) holds two types of data: i) a reference that can be resolved to a location (32) for the electronic application for security credentials, and ii) a secret that is used to prove that the party applying for the security credentials currently has possession of the invitation tag (18).
