The oxygen storage capacity finding process for a catalytic converter involves reporting effective dead time as measured by a measuring device (1) between the signals of two probes (2, 4) before and after the catalytic converter (3), setting the phase offset between the two signals and correcting reported effective dead time to allow for the phase offset. The system for implementing the process is also described.
