PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device, improving reliability of detecting accuracy by favorably detecting failure of an electronic expansion valve. SOLUTION: In this cooling device, an opening of the electronic expansion valve 13 is controlled based on the internal temperature of a housing box 10 to control the supply of a refrigerant to an evaporator 12, thereby setting the housing box 10 in a desired temperature state. The cooling device includes: a valve opening setting processing part 33 for giving an opening operation command or a closing operation command to the electronic expansion valve 13 based on the internal temperature of the housing box 10 within a range from the preset upper limit opening to lower limit valve opening; and a failure determination part 34 for determining the electronic expansion valve 13 to be a closing failure when the valve opening setting processing part 33 continues to give an opening operation command to the effect that the upper limit valve opening is set for a predetermined setting time, and on the other hand, determining the electronic expansion valve 13 to be an opening failure when the valve opening setting processing part 33 continues to give a closing operation command to the effect that the lower limit valve opening is set for a preset time.
