The lock for car doors, boot lids and bonnets has a C-shaped latch (1) which fits over locking pin (6) and is held in the locked position by a catch (2). The latch has a shock-absorbing coating (10) which has a higher coefficient of friction and hardness in the area (8) which fits over the pin.
