<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon carbide sintered compact producing a small amount of particles, and a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The silicon carbide sintered compact is obtained by mixing silicon carbide powders of two different average particle sizes, i.e. 1 μm and 2 μm, at a ratio of 3:7 in a container, adding 12 wt.% of a liquid phenolic resin to the mixture to obtain a slurry, granulating the slurry with a spray dryer to obtain a powder, packing the powder into a crucible and introducing the crucible into a heating furnace to carry out hot-press sintering. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
