PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject detection device which is easy to be used and can simultaneously detect a specific subject from a plurality of video signals. SOLUTION: A video signal processing apparatus is equipped with: a plurality of input means for inputting a plurality of video signals; a memory; a write-in means for writing video signals from the plurality of input means into the memory; a shrinkage means which, after reading out and shrinking the video signals written in the memory, writes them into the memory again; and a subject detection means which reads out the shrunk video signals from the memory and detects a specific subject.
