PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source module capable of reducing brightness irregularity and its driving method, and a display device comprising the same. SOLUTION: The light source module comprises a light source part having a plurality of light source blocks each corresponding to a plurality of display areas, for dimming the output brightness of the plurality of the light source blocks based on a dimming control signal, and a dimming control part for determining average gradation and inherent brightness of each display area, calculating the critical gradation of a display area using the inherent brightness, separating the entire gradation into a first gradation section and a second gradation section with the critical gradation provided as the boundary so that when the average gradation of a display area is in the first gradation section, brightness with a constant value is output as a dimming control signal, and when the average gradation is in the second gradation section, brightness adjusted according to the inherent brightness value is output as a dimming control signal. Thereby, brightness dimming of a light source block is carried out while taking into consideration interference brightness of the adjacent light source blocks. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
