PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for inspecting a metal belt while discriminating between dust and flaw. SOLUTION: This inspecting apparatus 20 for the metal belt comprises a belt travel mechanism 21 and four cameras (a camera 40 with a first ramp, a camera 45 with a second ramp, a camera 50 with a third ramp, and a camera with a fourth ramp) arranged so as to surround the travelling metal belt 30. As a result, the first to third ramps emit lights of different colors, and the first to third cameras are color cameras. Dust attached to the metal belt appears as an achromatic projecting image, and flaw attached to the metal belt appears as a dark chromatic image.
