PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control method shortening a period from start of cranking to start of fuel injection control based on engine intake pressure. SOLUTION: In the engine control method executing stroke discrimination of a plurality of cylinders from resultant intake pressure waveform Pb detected by a Pb sensor 4, intake pressure detection value of each cranking stage is buffered from engine cranking start, and stroke discrimination is temporally settled after 720 degree rotation from a point of time when crank reference position is settled. The buffered intake pressure detection value is made correspond to a temporal cycle stage (720 degree stage) defined by the temporal settlement, during the temporal settlement. Group injection injecting fuel simultaneously to cylinders in the same phase, thereby is executed with using the buffered intake air pressure detection value. When stroke discrimination is truly settled, sequential injection injecting fuel to each cylinder based on intake air pressure detection value and ignition control are executed.
