A wing mirror arrangement 1, particularly suited to articulated vehicles, comprises one or more supporting members 4,5,11,12 for extending a mirror 2 from the vehicle body. Mirror 2 is adjustable between a first position where it is spaced from the vehicle, and a second position where it is placed further away from the vehicle to allow appropriate viewing of the vehicle and the road when a manoeuvre is carried out. The supporting member(s) may incorporate a telescopic portion, a powered pivoted mechanism allowing the mirror to be extended further forward along the vehicle, or a hinged portion adjustable so that mirror 2 may be placed vertically or horizontally along the vehicle (Figure 5). The mirror arrangement 1 may incorporate a concertina portion comprising two or more supporting members (Figures 6a). It may include a static mirror and an elongate mirror adjustable so that it is adjacent to the static mirror or placed at a distance away from it. Position adjustments may be controlled remotely by the driver, via mechanisms typically hydraulic, pneumatic or electro-mechanical. |
