Phthalocyanine dye is new. Phthalocyanine dye of formula (II) is new. R 1-R 8linear or branched 8C alkyl; R 9-R 12H, linear or branched 8C alkyl or halo; M 1zinc, aluminum, magnesium, H, gallium, germanium or tin; M' : H, metal cation or ammonium cation (all optionally substituted by optionally substituted 1-12C alkyl or hydroxyalkoxyalkyl); m, n, o, p : 1 or 2. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) preparation of the phthalocyanine dyes (I); (2) pharmaceutical compositions comprising a pharmaceutical carrier and at least one phthalocyanine dye (II).
