<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress consumption of fuel in an engine in a hybrid vehicle which has an engine, a storage means which can store power and a motor which operates with the power stored in this storage means. <P>SOLUTION: When the hybrid vehicle is travelling using a driving force from a motor generator 2, and a charge amount E of a motor battery 9 which is a storage means is not more than a predetermined value Es, and when change of an accelerator operation amount θ is detected, output from the motor generator 2 is made to decrease corresponding to lowering of the charge amount E and the difference with the requesting output RT which is output required for travelling of the vehicle is made to output from the engine 1.
