PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multimode optical coupler by which full optical coupling is attained in a short coupling distance with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The multimode optical coupler has an integrated part in which two optical fibers are partially fused and made into one body, wherein one optical fiber is a multimode fiber and wherein the multimode light propagating in this multimode fiber is coupled in the glass of the other optical fiber. In the contour of the integrated part, there are a plurality of points of inflection, wherein the length of a region between the points of inflection at both ends is≤2 mm and the maximum outer diameter of the region is within 50-90% of the sum of the outer diameters of the two optical fibers, which is the characteristic of the multimode optical coupler.
